"Hormones don't operate in isolation. One of the most important relationships is the ratio between Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH)."
In a balanced cycle, FSH should be roughly equal to or slightly higher than LH on Day 3. If LH is double or triple FSH, the communication between brain and ovaries is out of sync.
This inverted ratio is a classic indicator of PCOS. Elevated LH signals the ovaries to produce more androgens and prevents FSH from maturing an egg.
Because both numbers might be "technically normal" in a broad range, this ratio is frequently missed unless you analyze the relationship between them.
